PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Part manufacturers need to overcome challenges such as the current lack of information from the machine resulting from paper-based manufacturing information. The increasingly important transparency and data consistency on the shopfloor can be reached thanks to smart and seamless networking of machine tools with the company’s IT landscape. How can it be achieved?
Smart and seamless machine tool networking on the shopfloor
It can be achieved by easily linking different systems in the manufacturing areas and beyond via Mcenter (formerly SINUMERIK Integrate) – the open and modular platform for the shopfloor. Mcenter supports companies manufacturing parts and components to:
- Gain valuable insight across all resources on the shopfloor, based on current machine data
- Efficiently manage the entire workflow in production environments
- Shorten setup times to improve resource utilization and reduce costs
Where is the shopfloor platform Mcenter used?
Mcenter supports different use cases on the shopfloor. Here are a few examples.
Tool Management
A central tool management system that supports the entire tool cycle ensures a transparent overview of all tools and components. This boosts productivity by making it easier to have the right tool at the right time at the right machine.
Program Management
NC programs are a valuable production resource that can be transparently managed using program management software – including tracking revisions. This enables efficient, secure and consistent program handling.
Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
By gaining valuable insights into production-relevant data, important indicators can be identified to improve machine utilization levels and eliminate bottlenecks.
Data collection
By facilitating access to high-quality data from machine sources, it is possible to integrate your data into applications on the shopfloor and support well-informed decision-making. It offers simple setup and broad connectivity options independent of the controller.
How does Mcenter function on the shopfloor?
User Interfaces
Web applications can be simply called from a PC or tablet web browser. User dialogs that are embedded in the CNC user interface are also provided for tasks at the machines themselves.
Machine connection
Mcenter has a state-of-the-art client-server architecture. Machines communicate with the central server via clients, which can be directly integrated into machine control systems or installed on an IPC next to the machine.
Use cases
Functioning as central platform for the entire shopfloor, Mcenter efficiently supports a diverse application range for different use cases, such as tool management, program management, OEE monitoring and data access.
Mcenter Platform
undefined
Mcenter is a local platform with state-of-the-art security. It is based on a Windows server with Microsoft SQL database installed at the production site. Based on central platform functions (e.g. connectivity, license management, user management, roles and rights, application management), Mcenter helps part manufacturers reduce the complexity of their IT administration.
How do you work with Mcenter?
Here, in the CNC4YOU Portal, you can find videos on how to install, configure and use the Mcenter server as well as the associated apps such as Manage MyResources. Subscribe to the CNC4you Newsletter to always stay up-to-date.

What are the advantages of the shopfloor platform?
Mcenter helps part manufacturers reduce the complexity of their IT administration through central platform functionalities.
Networking of all machines
Using Mcenter – regardless of the type and age of the control system – all machines can be managed across the entire production domain. One of the main features of Mcenter is its openness: The possibility of connecting other control systems is being continually expanded. For SINUMERIK machines, Mcenter provides a deep integration in the user interface and direct communication with the control.
Boosted productivity with minimum overhead
Mcenter allows companies to boost their productivity by giving them a deep insight into their tools, NC programs and machine utilization levels, massively reducing the overhead associated with managing resources. The growing number of ready-to-run applications means that we can support most key applications in the production landscape.
Integration into the existing IT infrastructure
State-of-the-art, open interfaces allow flexible integration into existing IT infrastructures and processes. Mcenter offers individual adaptation options based on an out-of-the-box product. This guarantees efficient workflows and data consistency. The seamless integration into the Siemens digitalization portfolio provides additional benefits.
