Ansys Motor-CAD and Ansys Maxwell: The Ideal Product Combo

The Ansys 2025R1 release introduces significant enhancements to both Ansys Motor-CAD and Ansys Maxwell, which can be used independently or in combination for the design and development of electric machines. When integrated, these tools offer even greater value to motor design workflows. Motor-CAD users can leverage Maxwell to explore a wider range of electric machine topologies and access advanced magnetic analysis capabilities. The efficiency map workflow in Motor-CAD is now enhanced with direct connectivity to Maxwell, supporting both 2D and 3D geometries. Additionally, Ansys Maxwell is ISO 26262 certified, making it a suitable choice for electromagnetic (EM) motor designs in passenger vehicles. Conversely, Maxwell users can incorporate Motor-CAD to evaluate magnetic and thermal performance during the early design phase especially useful for motors such as axial flux and linear motors. Motor-CAD also offers an intuitive user experience and supports preliminary noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) analysis, as well as drive cycle efficiency mapping.
