NX MCD

Validate the Machine, Before It’s Built.

INTRODUCTION

NX MCD (Mechatronics Concept Designer) breaks down the divide between mechanical, electrical and automation engineering, so your teams design machines together instead of in sequence. A shared functional model gives every discipline a common language: mechanical designers build concept models for detailed design, electrical designers use the same model to select sensors and actuators, and automation designers pull cam and sequence data straight from it for software development, all without remastering data between teams.

Unlike tools that only show geometry, NX MCD lets your teams validate that a design actually works before it’s built. Using a physics-based, interactive simulation, your teams add joints, motion, sensors, actuators and collision behavior to the model, then run it to catch integration issues while the design is still a concept, not after it reaches the shop floor.

Built for how your teams work

Shared Design Language

Trace requirements through to a finished design, across disciplines

Open Data, No Remastering

Refine designs directly, without translating between teams

Concept to Detail, Directly

Move from concept models straight into detailed design

Sensor and Actuator Ready

Select sensors and actuators from the same shared model

Physics-Based Validation

Simulate motion, collisions and behavior before anything is built

Fewer Late Integration Issues

Catch conflicts early, while the design is still a concept

What you can do with the software

Everything Your Team Needs, in One Place

From concept to validation, NX MCD keeps every discipline working from the same model.

Systems Engineering

Trace customer requirements through to a finished design, using shared systems engineering principles

Mechanical Design

Build concept models in Designcenter for detailed downstream design

Electrical Design

Select and position sensors and actuators, straight from the shared model

Automation Design

Pull cam and operation sequence data from the model, for software development

Physics-Based Simulation

Validate motion, collision behavior and machine operation, before anything is built

Reuse Library

Add joints, motion, sensor and actuator data quickly, without rebuilding from scratch
